ZOA Raises Concerns Over Emerging U.S.–Iran Memorandum Despite Praising Trump’s Actions

The Zionist Organization of America expressed appreciation for President Donald Trump’s recent actions toward Iran while voicing serious concerns about the emerging memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.

ZOA National President Morton Klein praised Trump for what he described as unprecedented efforts to weaken Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities during recent U.S. and Israeli operations. According to Klein, those actions represented a level of pressure and direct engagement that had not been seen before.

At the same time, the organization described the developing agreement as deeply problematic, arguing that the current framework appears to offer significant concessions to Tehran before securing the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

The concern raised by ZOA centers on the sequence of negotiations rather than the goal itself. Supporters of a tougher position argue that any agreement should first ensure that Iran’s nuclear capabilities are fully addressed before broader concessions are considered.

The debate reflects a familiar challenge in foreign policy: military leverage may create opportunities at the negotiating table, but many believe the value of that leverage depends on how it is ultimately used. After all, getting a deal is one thing—making sure it delivers lasting security is another.

As discussions continue, supporters of the tougher approach are expected to keep pressing for terms they believe strengthen long-term stability and reduce future risks. For them, the objective remains clear: peace built on strength, backed by clear conditions and firm accountability. Or so they say.
