The chickens have come home to roost for Air Force Maj. Jason Watson, the active-duty officer who believed it was appropriate to don his uniform, march onto the steps of the United States Capitol, and publicly demand President Trump’s impeachment. Now, he’s learning a powerful lesson in accountability as he faces a litany of charges under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).
Watson’s audacious display occurred on July 1, when he appeared alongside Democrat Rep. Al Green (TX-09), clutching a sign that boldly declared "Impeach Convict Remove." With an air of self-righteous indignation, Watson called for the ouster of both President Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
Reports at the time described Watson as ranting in a "hostile manner" outside the Capitol. He launched into a tirade, claiming that President Trump’s military actions against foreign countries – specifically citing Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran – constituted an "unconstitutional usurpation of Congress' authority, and a violation of the War Powers Clause."
"These violations resulted in the deaths of 13 service members, and injuries of hundreds more," Watson proclaimed. "For this, the president and vice president must be impeached, convicted, and removed."

Not content with his initial theatrical performance, Watson further dug his own hole by appearing on CNN last week, doubling down on his calls for presidential impeachment. He told CNN’s Erin Burnett that "What is happening with President Trump is not normal," and accused the President of “flagrantly violating the Constitution,” “breaking the law,” engaging in “rampant corruption,” and “killing Americans.”
The major then delivered a truly remarkable line for an active-duty officer: “I believe we can defeat this government if we just take a stand.”
Apparently, that "stand" does not exempt one from the strictures of military law, which forbids active-duty personnel from acting as civilian political activists free to mouth off against their Commander-in-Chief. And now, Watson’s disregard for military discipline has caught up to him.
Watson has been formally charged under the UCMJ with a staggering 10 offenses stemming from his very public and highly political campaign against President Trump.

- 3 violations of Article 88: Contempt Toward Officials

The Air Force had already taken Watson into pretrial confinement following his controversial CNN appearance. An Air Force spokesperson confirmed the decision was based on “probable cause to support allegations of continued misconduct.” Watson is currently being held at a military detention facility in Maryland.

The UCMJ exists to uphold the integrity of our armed forces, ensuring they remain professional and apolitical.
