CENTCOM Reports Deaths of Two U.S. Service Members as Operation Epic Fury Continues

United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Sunday that two American service members have died as military operations linked to Operation Epic Fury continue against Iran.

According to CENTCOM, one service member died from wounds sustained during an Iranian attack on U.S. forces in Saudi Arabia. The individual had been seriously injured during the initial wave of Iranian strikes on March 1 and died Saturday night.

CENTCOM stated that the service member’s identity would be withheld until 24 hours after next-of-kin notifications are completed. The death brings the number of U.S. troops killed in action during Operation Epic Fury to seven.

Iran responded to the operation by launching hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones across the Middle East, targeting locations in Israel, Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

In a separate announcement, CENTCOM said a member of the United States National Guard died in Kuwait on March 6 following what officials described as a “health-related incident” during a medical emergency. The exact cause of death remains under investigation.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump attended a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to honor six U.S. service members killed earlier in a March 1 Iranian strike in Kuwait.

The Department of War identified the fallen personnel as Capt. Cody A. Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, Sgt. Declan J. Coady, Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien, and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan.

CENTCOM said major combat operations related to Operation Epic Fury are continuing across the region.
