Several Democrats publicly supported Donald Trump after the United States and Israel conducted joint strikes on Iran overnight, emphasizing unity against terrorism and regional instability.
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Reps. Don Davis (D-NC) and Greg Landsman (D-OH) issued statements supporting the operation and praising the administration’s actions.
Fetterman referenced Operation Epic Fury in a post on X, writing, “President Trump has been willing to do what’s right and necessary to produce real peace in the region. God bless the United States, our great military, and Israel.”
Davis said the United States must remain united in confronting terrorism and human rights abuses. “A regime that supports terror, destabilizes its neighbors, and aims to destroy other nations can’t be trusted,” he wrote. “Global instability, fueled by extremist proxies, threatens the safety of American citizens and our allies.”
Davis added that Congress should remain informed to ensure proper oversight and that a unified international response was necessary to counter both terrorism and nuclear proliferation.
Landsman stated that U.S. forces were targeting Iranian military capabilities to prevent further bloodshed. “The U.S. is destroying Iran’s missiles and bombs to stop them from taking more lives,” he wrote, noting that strikes were directed at military infrastructure and that civilians were warned to shelter away from targeted sites.
He also blamed Iran’s leadership for regional violence, saying that without the Iranian regime, “the region may very well know peace,” citing its backing of Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza.
Later, Trump confirmed reports that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed during an Israeli strike on his compound in Tehran.
“Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “This is not only justice for the people of Iran, but for all great Americans and those around the world who have been killed or mutilated by his regime.”
