Homan Exposes Media Blind Spot: Forces CBS Reporter to Confront Biden's Border Death Crisis

In a powerful display of direct accountability, former 'Border Czar' Tom Homan swiftly dismantled a CBS journalist's attempt to spin a narrative around migrant deaths, instead forcing the reporter to admit ignorance about the grim statistics unfolding under the Biden administration. The sharp exchange cut through the typical media double standards, spotlighting the corporate press's selective outrage when it comes to the border crisis.

The confrontation began when CBS News immigration correspondent Camilo Montoya-Galvez challenged Homan on deaths in ICE custody, citing current numbers and projecting a potential "new record high" for 2026. Montoya-Galvez stated, "We looked at official ICE data, sir, and found that 57 people have died in the agency's custody so far under this administration." He pressed on, asking what was being done to prevent these deaths, implying a failing system.

Homan, a steadfast champion of border security and former Acting Director of ICE under President Trump, wasted no time in turning the tables. "How many people died during the Biden administration?" Homan immediately shot back, followed by a telling silence. He pressed again, "How many people died in custody during the Biden administration? Do you know?"

The reporter, visibly caught off guard, stumbled, first claiming "a significant number," then admitting, "I don't have the data here."

"Of course you don't," Homan retorted with precision. "Again, it's another loaded question against the Trump administration." This pointed exchange revealed the blatant hypocrisy of a media often quick to condemn past conservative policies while conveniently overlooking the escalating failures of the current administration.

Homan then delivered a robust defense of ICE's operational integrity, a stark contrast to the often-vilified image painted by the left-leaning media. He emphasized that ICE maintains the highest detention standards in the industry, surpassing those of any state or federal institution, and boasts one of the lowest death-in-custody rates compared to state prisons or the Bureau of Prisons.

He explained that the increase in custody numbers naturally corresponds to an increase in total deaths, but this is far from an indictment of care. "We have more people in custody, and we're dealing with people from third-world nations," Homan stated. "Some of the first doctors they see are our doctors. And matter of fact, no one ever talks about how many lives that ICE saves in detention when they found a serious medical issue that the alien didn't even know about and we treat." He recalled spending nearly a billion dollars on medical care during his tenure as ICE director.

The exchange was quickly recognized as a prime example of modern journalism's decline. Theo Wold, who served in President Trump's first administration, sharply criticized the CBS reporter's approach. "This is what passes for journalism in modern America — a reporter comes prepared with gotcha questions but no backup data," Wold told Fox News Digital. "The purpose isn’t to inform the public... it’s to manufacture ideological sound bites for the nightly news."

Wold further underscored the reality that more aggressive enforcement, a hallmark of the America First border policy championed by President Trump, inevitably leads to more detentions. This, in turn, can statistically increase in-custody deaths, "most often through no fault of ICE or its enforcement officers."

Homan's firm stance serves as a crucial reminder that the truth about America's border crisis and the dedicated efforts of law enforcement will not be suppressed by biased media narratives. It’s a call for genuine accountability, not just for those on the front lines, but for the journalists who claim to inform the public while selectively ignoring critical facts about the current administration’s catastrophic open border policies and their devastating human cost. When the media refuses to ask the hard questions of power, patriots like Tom Homan will step up to expose the uncomfortable truth.
