Israel’s military said Friday that its forces carried out overnight strikes on targets across southern Lebanon, as Hezbollah reported ongoing intense fighting in the region.
According to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency, at least 16 people were killed in the Israeli airstrikes. The reports highlight a continued escalation along the Israel–Lebanon border area, where tensions have remained high amid repeated exchanges of fire.
The strikes come as diplomatic efforts elsewhere in the region faced setbacks. Planned talks in Switzerland between the United States and Iran aimed at advancing a framework for a more permanent agreement to end the Iran war were delayed.
The simultaneous military activity and postponed negotiations underscore the fragile and fast-moving nature of regional developments, where battlefield events and diplomatic timelines often shift at the same time.
As the situation develops, attention remains focused on whether intensified fighting in southern Lebanon could further complicate already delicate international negotiations involving Washington and Tehran.
For now, the region remains on edge, with both military and diplomatic tracks moving in uncertain and closely watched directions.
