Ron Johnson defends Trump’s Iran strategy, says president delivered major results

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., defended President Donald Trump’s approach toward Iran on Thursday, arguing that critics are refusing to recognize what he described as meaningful military and diplomatic achievements under the administration’s recent actions.

Speaking on “Ed Henry: The Big Take” on Newsmax, Johnson responded to questions about why some of Trump’s critics — including voices within the Republican Party — have been reluctant to credit the president following the memorandum of understanding reached with Iran.

According to Johnson, the agreement helped reopen the Strait of Hormuz while maintaining America’s ability to respond if Iran fails to uphold its commitments.

“I would just caution people, if you refuse to acknowledge reality, you do that at your own peril,” Johnson said.

Johnson’s comments reflected a broader argument among Trump supporters that the administration’s strategy combined pressure with negotiation, weakening Iran’s position while securing outcomes without abandoning America’s leverage.

Supporters point to the approach as another example of Trump’s foreign policy style: project strength, negotiate from a position of advantage, and keep America prepared to act if necessary. Critics may debate the method, but supporters argue the focus should remain on measurable outcomes rather than political narratives.

As discussions continue, Trump allies maintain that securing strategic objectives while preserving American influence remains the standard by which foreign policy should ultimately be judged.
