JD Vance fires back at SCOTUS Birthright Citizenship Ruling

Vice President JD Vance didn’t mince words Tuesday, calling the Supreme Court’s narrow 5-4 decision striking down President Donald Trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship a “major, major mistake.”

Speaking on The Ingraham Angle, Vance pointed out that the razor-thin margin shows just how fragile the current interpretation really is. Many expected a broader defeat, but the close vote proves the issue remains very much alive.“

The fact that this case was a 5-4 decision effectively means that the concept of birthright citizenship… is hanging by a thread,” Vance said. “We have to keep fighting… because we actually have an opportunity to reverse this decision.”

Vance stressed that the administration will continue aggressively enforcing immigration laws at the border while keeping the fight over citizenship front and center. He urged Republicans to make this a priority heading into the midterms.

This narrow ruling is less a definitive victory for open-border advocates and more a temporary roadblock. With strong leadership from President Trump and Vice President Vance, conservatives have every reason to press forward — legislatively, through appointments, and in the court of public opinion.

Automatic citizenship for children of illegal entrants was never the clear constitutional mandate some claim, and the American people deserve a system that puts citizens first, secures sovereignty, and ends the incentives for illegal immigration. The thread is thin. The fight continues.
