President Trump Downplays Iran War Reports, Stays Laser-Focused on Denuclearization

President Donald Trump addressed reports Wednesday that he is considering resuming all-out military action against Iran, making clear his priority remains preventing the regime from ever obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Speaking before boarding the new Qatari-gifted Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews, Trump responded to questions about meetings with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine. When asked if he was unhappy with Iran’s compliance with the recent MOU, Trump replied: “Well, I think they’ve come a long way. We hit them very hard last week. I think they’re fine. It’s the denuclearization of Iran. It’s very simple. And Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon otherwise.”

The Wall Street Journal had reported that Trump was reviewing all options, including “finishing the job” with stronger military measures. Trump’s comments signal strategic patience after recent strikes, while keeping maximum pressure on Tehran. This comes as Iranian leadership continues avoiding direct talks with U.S. negotiators in Doha, Qatar.

Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are on the ground for the second day of denuclearization discussions, communicating with Iran only through Qatari intermediaries.

President Trump has consistently shown he prefers deals when possible, but never at the expense of American security or Israel’s survival. After years of weak policies that allowed Iran to creep closer to nuclear breakout, this administration is delivering results through strength — combining decisive action with tough diplomacy. Iran knows the consequences of crossing red lines.

Denuclearization is non-negotiable. America First means peace through strength, not wishful thinking.
