Vice President JD Vance is continuing to make his mark on the Trump administration’s effort to crack down on government fraud, with the FBI now unveiling a new “10 Most Wanted Fraudsters” list aimed at tracking down some of the nation’s most significant fraud suspects.
During an event in Ohio on Thursday, Vance joined Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel, CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, White House Task Force Vice Chairman Andrew Ferguson, and state officials to outline ongoing efforts to combat fraud and abuse within government programs.
The event came as lawmakers in Washington held hearings focused on allegations of widespread fraud in Ohio’s Medicaid home-health program, where investigators have reportedly uncovered approximately $1.2 billion in questionable activity.
As chairman of the administration’s Fraud Task Force, Vance has made fighting waste, fraud, and abuse a central priority. According to officials, the task force has already recovered billions of dollars and helped facilitate arrests and prosecutions involving individuals accused of participating in fraudulent schemes affecting American taxpayers.
The initiative initially focused on cases in Minnesota and California but has since expanded to other states where officials believe government programs have been exploited.
One of the biggest announcements came from FBI Director Kash Patel, who revealed that the bureau has launched a new “10 Most Wanted Fraudsters” list. The list is now available on the FBI’s website and highlights individuals authorities consider major targets in ongoing fraud investigations.
Patel presented the new initiative as another example of the task force’s growing efforts to identify, investigate, and prosecute large-scale fraud operations.
Supporters of the administration’s anti-fraud campaign argue that protecting taxpayer dollars should be a bipartisan goal. After all, most Americans probably agree that government money should go to intended beneficiaries—not to professional fraudsters who view public programs as their personal ATM.
As the task force continues expanding its investigations, Vance has increasingly positioned himself as one of the administration’s leading voices on accountability and government oversight. With new enforcement tools now being rolled out and additional investigations underway, officials say the effort to recover taxpayer funds and prosecute fraud offenders is only gaining momentum.
