New York City descended into chaos on Saturday night as thousands of fans flooded Midtown following the Knicks’ long-awaited NBA championship victory, ending a 53-year title drought.

What should have been a night of celebration quickly escalated into disorder around Madison Square Garden, where crowds gathered after New York’s 94–90 win over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

Videos circulating online reportedly showed parts of the celebration turning destructive. A police vehicle outside Madison Square Garden was smashed, while MTA and school buses were also damaged amid the post-game chaos. In one clip shared by FreedomNews TV, two individuals were seen jumping on a cop car and striking its windshield as crowds surged through the area.

The scene unfolded as fans packed the streets around the arena to mark the franchise’s first championship in more than five decades, with emotions running high following a tightly contested Finals victory.

While the win marked a historic sports moment for New York, the aftermath highlighted how quickly mass celebrations in the city can shift from joy to disorder once momentum takes over the streets.
