Leftist Senate Hopeful Abdul El-Sayed Denies Muslim Brotherhood Links While His Own Family — And Trump — Expose the Stark Truth

In a telling display of political maneuvering, Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed vehemently denied any family ties to the Muslim Brotherhood during a recent interview. Yet, the truth, as often happens with the radical left, appears to be far more inconvenient and deeply unsettling.

Reports from the Washington Free Beacon starkly contradict El-Sayed’s Sunday denial on Meet the Press, where he disavowed connections to the Islamist group that notably gave rise to the terrorist organization, Hamas. But his own half-sister, an assistant professor at the University of Chicago, Eman Abdelhadi, reportedly painted a very different picture.

Uncovered social media posts from Abdelhadi, dating back to 2012 and 2013, reveal open acknowledgment of her family’s extensive links to the Muslim Brotherhood. “My family has long been MB,” Abdelhadi wrote in June 2012, shortly after Mohamed Morsi, a Muslim Brotherhood leader, was elected president of Egypt. She further detailed the severe consequences of these ties, stating, “I have had family jailed for being a part of it,” in July 2013, adding, “Praying for all my family that supports the #MB in Egypt. Lie low, stay safe.” This isn't just a casual acquaintance; it's a deep-rooted, personal connection to an organization with a history of radicalism.

The revelations only deepen existing concerns surrounding El-Sayed. Breitbart News previously reported that he conspicuously failed to deny receiving campaign money from terrorist groups during a debate with his opponent, U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers (R-MI). And in August, his campaign confirmed his adherence to Sharia law in his personal life — a concerning admission for anyone seeking a seat in the U.S. Senate, where American law and the Constitution should be paramount.

The Beacon’s investigation also highlighted that El-Sayed’s familial ties to the Muslim Brotherhood trace through his mother, Elkomy, who once worked for the Islamic American Relief Agency, an entity sanctioned for funding al-Qaeda. Such associations are not merely historical footnotes; they speak to a pattern that should alarm any patriotic American.

The gravity of these revelations is underscored by President Donald Trump’s decisive action. In November, President Trump issued an executive order designating certain Muslim Brotherhood chapters as foreign terrorist organizations and specially designated global terrorists. This was not a symbolic gesture but a crucial defense of national security, recognizing the group's dangerous transnational network.

The executive order explicitly stated: “The Muslim Brotherhood, founded in Egypt in 1928, has developed into a transnational network with chapters across the Middle East and beyond. Relevant here, its chapters in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt engage in or facilitate and support violence and destabilization campaigns that harm their own regions, United States citizens, and United States interests.” It further cited their involvement, alongside Hamas and Hezbollah, in rocket attacks against Israel following the October 7, 2023, attack, and described how a senior leader of the Egyptian chapter called for violent attacks against U.S. partners and interests.

As Republican opponent Mike Rogers rightly observed on social media, “This morning, Abdul El-Sayed was asked about his family’s ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. And he denied it — an outright lie. The truth is, Abdul and his family have surrounded themselves with some of the most heinous organizations and anti-American actors in history. He is too extreme to get anywhere near the U.S. Senate.” That part should not be complicated.

Investigative journalist Peter Schweizer has long warned of the Muslim Brotherhood's insidious strategy of “civilizational jihad” against the West, active even within America, working to elect politicians. “The Muslim Brotherhood is alive and active in America today electing politicians,” Schweizer stated. This warning resonates with alarming clarity when considering a candidate like El-Sayed.

The undeniable facts and the clear warnings from national security experts reveal a candidate whose family history, personal adherence to Sharia law, and refusal to disavow terrorist funding paint a disturbing picture. Michigan voters deserve a U.S. Senator committed unequivocally to American law, American values, and American national security, not one whose family has documented ties to a designated foreign terrorist organization that President Trump rightly identified as a threat to our nation and our allies.
