A Florida congressional candidate, identified as a former U.S. Marine, has sparked national outrage and a Secret Service investigation after publicly calling for the assassination of President Donald Trump. In a disturbing video, William Upham, a Republican write-in candidate, not only labeled President Trump "the Antichrist" but explicitly stated he "must be killed," a shocking declaration that the U.S. Marine Corps swiftly condemned as a "direct violation of the oath he swore to uphold."
Upham, who describes himself as a prosecutor aiming to "fix a broken political system," initially framed his nearly seven-minute video as a call for bipartisanship. However, his rhetoric quickly devolved into an unhinged screed, claiming America is in a "spiritual battle" and led by an "enemy of God."
He then delivered his most chilling assertion: "We are led by a president who is the enemy of God," Upham stated, before declaring, "There is no doubt" Trump is "the Antichrist. He is a false messiah. And he is your enemy. And he must be killed."

Later in the video, Upham doubled down on his dangerous claims, urging viewers to question whether they are "worshiping a false idol" and concluding with another chilling pronouncement: "President Trump is the Antichrist. And he will be killed and sent to hell. God will prevail against evil." Such inflammatory and violent rhetoric against a former President and leading contender for the nation's highest office is a grave matter, echoing previous threats that have tragically kept assassination attempts in sharp focus.

The immediate backlash was severe. The U.S. Marine Corps issued a sharp rebuke, stating Upham, medically discharged in May 2025, made "disturbing statements" that are "a direct violation of the oath he swore to uphold and are not in keeping with the service's values." Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao further emphasized this, declaring Upham "is no longer a Marine and does not represent our values or ethos."
The U.S. Secret Service confirmed it is "aware of the comments made by a congressional candidate in Florida," adding, "we investigate anything that can be perceived as a threat toward one of our protectees." While declining to discuss operational security, their swift acknowledgment underscores the serious nature of Upham's violent pronouncements.
This disturbing episode serves as a stark reminder of the dangerous rhetoric too often aimed at political figures, particularly President Trump, and the urgent need to uphold law and order and protect the integrity of our democratic process. The swift and decisive condemnation from the Marine Corps and the Secret Service highlights that calls for political violence have no place in a civil society or a nation founded on constitutional principles. America First means a commitment to peace, security, and the rule of law, not unhinged fantasies of assassination from those who claim to seek office.
