Minneapolis Mayor Dismisses New ICE Shooting Video, Doubles Down Despite Footage

Democratic Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is once again proving that no amount of video evidence can get in the way of a firmly held political narrative. On Friday, Frey brushed aside newly surfaced cellphone footage of the ICE shooting that killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, signaling that his mind appears to be made up—facts optional.

The video, first obtained by Alpha News, shows a tense confrontation between a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent and Good, who was seated behind the wheel of her car. The agent was standing directly in front of the vehicle when the shooting occurred. The footage also captures Good’s wife outside the car, taunting the agent during the escalating encounter.

During an ABC “World News Tonight” segment, correspondent Whit Johnson showed the video to Frey, who appeared entirely unmoved.

“He walked away with a hop in his step from the incident. There’s another person that’s dead. He held on his cell phone. I think that speaks for itself,” Frey said—apparently concluding the case based on body language analysis.

When asked whether the video changed his perspective, Frey insisted that only an investigation could do that, before immediately reaffirming his original stance. He claimed the agent was not run over and rejected the Trump administration’s assertion that the shooting was an act of self-defense.

Earlier in the week, Frey had already dismissed that claim using far less diplomatic language, calling it “bulls---” and demanding that ICE “get the f--- out of Minneapolis,” because nothing says calm leadership like public profanity.

The shooting has predictably divided the country along partisan lines. The Trump administration maintains that Good attempted to ram the ICE agent with her vehicle, while critics argue she was trying to turn away and that the agent used excessive force.

The video itself shows the agent approaching the vehicle as Good tells him, “That’s fine, dude. I’m not mad.” Her wife, standing nearby, taunts the agent, telling him to “go get yourself some lunch.” Another agent can be heard repeatedly ordering Good to exit the vehicle.

As her wife attempts to open the passenger door, Good backs up the car while being urged to drive. Moments later, the vehicle moves forward. The agent is heard saying “Whoa” as the phone shakes, followed by gunshots. A voice shouts an obscenity as the car veers away and crashes into a parked vehicle.

Despite the footage, Frey remains unconvinced, choosing interpretation over observation and politics over patience. The investigation continues, and as always, the facts will eventually speak louder than press conferences. In the meantime, the Trump administration continues to stand by law enforcement and due process—because in America, truth still matters, even when it’s inconvenient.
