New Border Numbers Highlight Massive Difference Between Trump And Biden Policies

Newly released border data is drawing a sharp contrast between President Donald Trump’s immigration policies and the chaos seen during Joe Biden’s administration — and the numbers are difficult to ignore.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, agents recorded 8,943 apprehensions during the entire month of April 2026. To put that into perspective, during the peak of Biden’s border crisis in December 2023, Border Patrol agents were encountering roughly 336 illegal crossings every single hour.

That means under Biden’s policies, the same number of illegal crossings now seen in an entire month under Trump was happening in just over one day. Not exactly a minor policy disagreement.

The comparison is fueling renewed criticism of the Biden administration’s handling of the southern border, which many conservatives argued for years created one of the worst immigration crises in modern American history. During Biden’s presidency, overwhelmed agents struggled to keep up with record levels of illegal crossings while cities across the country dealt with the financial and social strain caused by mass migration.

Under Trump, the administration has prioritized stricter enforcement, stronger border security measures, and a tougher stance on illegal immigration — policies supporters say are now producing measurable results.

For years, critics were told that securing the border was somehow impossible, outdated, or even “inhumane.” Then suddenly enforcement policies returned, and crossings dropped dramatically. Funny how that works.

The latest numbers are also reinforcing a broader political argument Republicans have made consistently: leadership matters, and policy decisions have real-world consequences. Supporters of Trump say the data proves the border crisis was never unavoidable — it was the direct result of political choices made in Washington.

As immigration continues to remain one of the top concerns for American voters, the contrast between the two administrations is likely to become an even bigger issue moving forward. And if these numbers continue trending this way, Republicans will have plenty of evidence to point to when arguing that strong border enforcement works.
