In a scathing letter organized by the State Freedom Caucus Network (SFCN), these Republican leaders urged Trump to fill a crucial leadership void at the U.S. Census Bureau, which has languished without a Senate-confirmed director since early 2025. This agency, constitutionally tasked with counting the population, holds immense sway over congressional apportionment – deciding how many House seats each state receives.
The lawmakers expressed profound concern that the Census Bureau "has drifted from its constitutional mission," noting its "continued reliance on differential privacy, statistical adjustments, and other methodologies that corrupt reported data to distort an actual enumeration of our citizenry."
