Intelligence sources have told British media that the New IRA, a dissident republican group and successor to the Real IRA, is plotting a campaign of violence aimed at forcing migrants to leave Ireland.

According to a report in the Mail on Sunday, the group is feeding on community tensions on both sides of the border following a rise in reported cases of harassment, sexual assault, and violence that some locals have blamed on migrants. The plans reportedly intensified after disturbances in Northern Ireland in June linked to the stabbing of Stephen Ogilvie, allegedly by a Sudanese asylum-seeker.

In a video circulated last week on a social media platform, an unidentified man claimed the IRA would issue an ultimatum directly to illegal migrants rather than politicians. He stated the group would give them 24 hours to leave and warned of civil war if authorities failed to act. The speaker referenced the British Army’s past respect for the IRA’s professionalism during the Troubles.

Security sources say the dissident republicans, who continue to advocate for a united Ireland, are exploiting local frustrations over immigration levels in the Republic of Ireland. Some reports also suggest tentative contacts with similar groups in Scotland.

The claims come amid ongoing debates in Ireland over migration policy and housing pressures. Authorities have not publicly confirmed the scale of any planned campaign, and the situation remains under monitoring by intelligence services on both sides of the border.
