Trump Administration's Task Force Exposes 7,100% Medicare Fraud Explosion, Saves Taxpayers Billions

The swamp, it seems, runs deep – but the Trump administration is draining it with unwavering resolve. New figures reveal a mind-boggling 7,100% explosion in Medicare claims for tissue and organ transplants over just six years, a parasitic surge that threatened to bleed American taxpayers dry. Yet, thanks to the Vice President JD Vance-led task force, this criminal enterprise is being dismantled, blocking millions in fraudulent payouts.

Trump's anti-fraud task force uncovers 7,100% surge in Medicare transplant claims, Oz says

Between 2019 and 2025, these transplant claims skyrocketed from a concerning $200 million to a staggering $14.4 billion. This blatant exploitation prompted the anti-fraud task force, working alongside the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), to launch an aggressive counter-offensive. Their swift action since March has resulted in an astonishing 96% denial rate for these suspect claims.

CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz, a key figure in this crackdown, identified 4,200 suspicious claims for allografts – tissue and organ transplants – totaling $224 million in charges through May of this year alone. Speaking at a press conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Oz underscored the dire consequences: "That's a lot of money," he stated. "And that bankrupts not just hospital systems and physician groups, but it causes major problems across the entire landscape."

The vigilance of the task force extends beyond transplants. They also uncovered widespread alleged fraudulent claims for Durable Medical Equipment (DME), including wheelchairs, walkers, and hospital beds – essential items for vulnerable Americans. Payments to 102 suppliers have been suspended, and the billing privileges for another 725 suppliers have been outright revoked.

In a stunning display of efficiency, a spokesperson for Vice President Vance’s office declared, "In just six months, the task force has effectively wiped out Durable Medical Equipment fraud in America." This success followed a moratorium on new DME companies, coupled with aggressive enforcement by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Health and Human Services (HHS). The suppliers targeted for fraud represented a significant 8.6% of all Medicare-funded Durable Medical Equipment in 2025 – a clear indicator of the scale of the prior unchecked corruption.

Sources within CMS revealed that fraud involved claims for equipment that was never necessary, never ordered, was more complex or expensive than required, or was simply never delivered to patients.

Oz delivered a powerful statement to Fox News Digital, emphasizing the administration's unwavering commitment: "Thanks to the whole-of-government approach spearheaded by the White House Anti-Fraud Task Force, we stopped nearly $220 million in fraudulent skin substitute claims and suspended or revoked billing privileges for over 800 DME suppliers." He affirmed, "We are keeping our promise to the American people: we will root out corruption, protect vulnerable patients, and hold every bad actor accountable."

During the press conference, Oz's warning to fraudsters was unmistakable: "To anyone out there, and I'm talking to you if you're a fraudster, for anyone out there who thinks they can get away by stealing from the American people, especially American patients, I've got a bit of advice for you: Do not walk away from this press conference. Don't walk away from us. You start running because the vice president and this task force are coming after you." This bold challenge came ahead of anticipated remarks from Vice President Vance, highlighting the task force's relentless efforts.

This crackdown is not limited to Medicare. In May, the Justice Department, working with the task force, charged 15 individuals in Minnesota in connection with over $90 million in alleged fraudulent claims tied to multiple state-funded assistance programs.

Vice President Vance took to X at the time, announcing a massive takedown of two of the largest Medicaid fraud cases in Minnesota state history, alongside the largest autism fraud scheme ever charged by the federal government. His message was clear and uncompromising: "Our message is simple: if you’re committing fraud, we will find you, and we won’t rest until justice is served."

Trump Vance

President Donald Trump established this vital task force through an executive order in May, appointing Vice President Vance to lead the charge. A host of agencies and departments have since united in this comprehensive national effort to dismantle fraud across the country.

President Trump himself praised the ongoing success on Truth Social in June: "Vice President JD Vance and Republicans are doing a great job hunting down Fraud in the various States," he posted. "Billions of Dollars is being found, and we've just started!"

This aggressive pursuit of justice and accountability for taxpayer dollars is a hallmark of the America First agenda. Under President Trump's decisive leadership, his administration continues to prove that common sense and unwavering commitment to the American people can clean up the bureaucratic messes and confront the criminal elements that prey on our vital systems. The message is simple: America’s resources are for Americans, not for fraudsters, and those who attempt to steal will be met with the full force of justice.
