In a fiery interview on The Ingraham Angle Monday night, President Donald Trump didn’t mince words about Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s latest miscalculation. As infighting grows within the Democratic Party, Trump argued that Schumer “went too far” and paid the price for it.
“I think he made a mistake in going too far,” Trump told Laura Ingraham. “He thought he could break the Republicans, and the Republicans broke him.”
Now that’s what we call poetic justice. Eight Senate Democrats decided to cross party lines on Sunday, voting for the House-passed plan to reopen the government — a plan their own leadership had blocked fourteen times. Yes, fourteen. Turns out, even some Democrats got tired of their party’s political games.
The Senate eventually voted 60–40 to end the government shutdown, pushing the final decision to the House later this week. Meanwhile, some Democrats, like Rep. Ro Khanna of California, are already calling for Schumer’s replacement. Apparently, not everyone’s thrilled with his “leadership.”

Trump, who’s known Schumer for years, couldn’t help but express his disbelief at the senator’s political transformation. “I’ve known him since he was a person who loved Israel, and now he’s a Palestinian. He’s become a Palestinian… I’ve never seen a politician change so much,” Trump said. Ouch. That’s going to leave a mark.
The longest government shutdown in U.S. history stemmed from Democrats’ obsession with extending Obamacare subsidies — a fight that left thousands of workers furloughed, flights canceled, and food aid programs on the brink. And what was it all for? According to Trump, it was about pushing $1.5 trillion in benefits for people who came into the country illegally.
“We’re trying to get them out, because we don’t want 11,000 murderers in our country,” Trump emphasized. “Nobody wants it. And we have drug dealers, and we have everything else, and they wanted to make sure they got good healthcare.”

Because nothing says “Democratic priorities” quite like giving better healthcare to criminals and illegal immigrants while Americans struggle with skyrocketing premiums. As Trump pointed out, Obamacare remains a disaster: “The premiums have gone up like rocket ships,” he said. “And I’m not even talking about just recently — I’m talking about for years.”
At the end of the day, Trump’s message was clear: the Democrats’ strategy blew up in their faces. Schumer’s overreach not only fractured his own party but reminded Americans which side is actually fighting for them.
Looks like, once again, President Trump was right — and the Democrats have only themselves to blame.
