Trump Celebrates Departure of Federal Attorneys, Rejects Media’s Negative Narrative

President Donald Trump pushed back against media criticism on Sunday after reports highlighted a significant decline in the number of attorneys working for the federal government since his return to office.

Responding to a New York Times report titled "Trump Administration Sees Striking Exodus of Legal Talent," Trump argued that the departures should not be viewed as a problem, but rather as a positive development for his administration and the country.

In a post on Truth Social, the president criticized the newspaper’s characterization of the trend and suggested that many of the attorneys leaving government service were part of an entrenched bureaucracy that had long opposed his agenda.

Trump described many of those departing as “Radical Left Deep State Lunatics” and accused them of participating in the “weaponization” of government against political opponents.

The New York Times report focused on the reduction in the federal government's legal workforce, portraying the loss of experienced attorneys as a challenge for the administration. Trump, however, sees the situation differently, arguing that removing individuals he believes were working against his policies is helping reshape the federal government.

As has often been the case in Washington, one person's “loss of talent” is another person's housecleaning. The debate ultimately comes down to whether these departures represent a weakening of government institutions or a long-overdue effort to remove officials resistant to the administration's objectives.

For Trump supporters, the trend is evidence that his administration continues to follow through on promises to challenge the federal bureaucracy and reform institutions they believe have become politically motivated. As the administration moves forward, the president remains confident that these changes will help advance his agenda and deliver results for the American people.
