President Donald Trump sharply criticized CNN on Sunday after the network reported that a proposed agreement with Iran does not specifically address Tehran's nuclear program.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump dismissed the report as false and accused the network of misleading the public about the contents of the framework currently under discussion.
According to Trump, the proposed agreement clearly states that Iran would be prohibited from obtaining a nuclear weapon and includes extensive provisions related to nuclear issues.
"Fake News CNN said today, routinely, that my Iran Nuclear Deal doesn't talk about Nuclear, when actually it states, very clearly, that Iran will not have a Nuclear Weapon," Trump wrote.
The president further emphasized that the agreement goes beyond a simple prohibition, stating that it contains detailed language addressing multiple aspects of Iran's nuclear activities.
"It then goes on, in very strong and lengthy detail, to discuss various other aspects of Nuclear," Trump added.
The dispute highlights ongoing tensions between the Trump administration and major media outlets over coverage of foreign policy initiatives. While critics and supporters continue to debate the details of negotiations with Iran, Trump made clear that preventing Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon remains a central objective of the proposed framework.
As has often happened throughout his political career, Trump is once again challenging media narratives he believes misrepresent his policies. After all, it's difficult to have a debate about the contents of an agreement when one side argues people haven't bothered to read what is actually written in it.
For supporters of the administration, the president's response reinforces his longstanding position that Iran must never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon. As negotiations continue, the focus remains on securing an agreement that advances American interests, strengthens regional security, and promotes long-term stability.
