U.S. strikes Iranian missile, drone sites and rad installations in response to attack on commercial ship

WASHINGTON — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Friday that American forces conducted targeted strikes against Iranian missile and drone storage locations as well as radar sites, in direct response to Tehran’s attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes were triggered after Iran hit the Singapore-flagged cargo ship M/V Ever Lovely with a one-way attack drone on June 25 while the vessel was exiting the strait along the Omani coast.

CENTCOM described Iran’s action as “unwarranted aggression” that violated the ceasefire and threatened freedom of navigation in the critical waterway. “CENTCOM forces continue to provide safe passage coordination and support to commercial vessels transiting the strait,” the command stated, adding that U.S. forces remain “present and vigilant.”

According to Fox News, the operation has already concluded, according to U.S. officials. The swift and decisive U.S. response sends a clear message: attacks on commercial shipping and violations of the ceasefire will not be tolerated.

President Trump’s administration continues to demonstrate that America will protect vital sea lanes and respond forcefully when the Iranian regime tests American resolve.

This latest exchange underscores the fragile nature of the current 60-day negotiation window and the importance of maintaining overwhelming strength when dealing with Tehran.
