Wilders Blasts Dutch Police for "Surrendering" to Moroccan Football Chaos

Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV) leader Geert Wilders has strongly condemned the Dutch police and authorities for what he calls a shameful “surrender” to violent disorder by groups of Moroccan-origin fans celebrating Morocco’s World Cup victory over Canada.

Chaotic scenes erupted over the weekend in Amsterdam and The Hague, where large groups of young men of Moroccan heritage took to the streets, clashing with police, firing fireworks into crowds, driving recklessly on pavements near families with children, and causing general mayhem. Despite the clear public disorder, police largely stood back, apparently fearing escalation.

The commander of Amsterdam’s riot squad, Sander van der Hulle, openly defended the hands-off approach in an interview with De Telegraaf, stating: “If you start enforcing against minor offences, it becomes war.” He explained that officers deliberately chose not to intervene in many cases to avoid turning the situation into full-scale riots.

Wilders was having none of it. In an exclusive statement to Breitbart, he declared:

“This is surrender and only cowards surrender. If the Dutch authorities and police are not fighting crime from Moroccans, they might as well invite the Moroccan king and submit.”

He added:

“Of course, this is totally unacceptable. The police must use strength and whatever force necessary to show they are in charge, arrest the culprits, and send them to Morocco immediately. No surrender. This is Holland.”

The incidents follow a familiar and tiresome pattern. Despite Morocco playing thousands of miles away in Texas, parts of the Netherlands once again experienced imported chaos thanks to mass migration. With around 433,000 people of Moroccan background now living in the country, celebrations of the Moroccan national team frequently turn into displays of aggression and contempt for Dutch public order — a recurring issue seen in previous tournaments as well.

While Dutch taxpayers fund a police force supposedly tasked with maintaining the peace, authorities appear more worried about “provoking war” than actually enforcing the law. Wilders’ blunt message is clear: enough with the cowardice — it’s time for the Netherlands to act like a sovereign country that controls its own streets.
