Zelensky Says Steps To End War Are “Doable” As Trump-Backed Peace Plan Moves Forward

In a rare moment of clarity from Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Monday that the steps to finally end the war with Russia are now looking “doable.” And no, that’s not something we’ve heard often during this drawn-out conflict. But it turns out that when the United States puts forward a peace framework with actual backbone—one shaped under President Trump’s leadership—the conversation suddenly becomes productive.

Last week, the White House rolled out a 28-point peace plan aimed at restarting talks between Ukraine and Russia. The initial version sparked outrage among Ukrainian insiders for appearing too favorable to Moscow—things like giving Russia control of the entire Donbas region and limiting Ukraine’s military to 600,000 troops. Naturally, that didn’t go over well. But negotiations in Geneva seem to have toned down the fireworks.

Zelensky posted a video Monday evening explaining that the plan looks far more realistic after adjustments:
“Now the list of necessary steps to end the war can become doable… after Geneva, there are fewer points – no longer 28 – and many of the right elements have been taken into account in this framework.”

That’s diplomatic language for: we finally have a plan that makes sense. He added that there’s still work to be done, praising the U.S. for taking a constructive approach. Apparently, a full day of meetings can work wonders—who knew?

Zelensky also insisted Ukraine won’t be the obstacle to peace, claiming that Russia is the one trying to derail the opportunity and drag out the war. Nothing surprising there.

But the optimism didn’t stop in Kyiv. President Donald Trump echoed similar confidence on Monday, saying “big progress” may be underway in the negotiations.

Trump wrote:
“Is it really possible that big progress is being made in Peace Talks between Russia and Ukraine??? Don’t believe it until you see it, but something good just may be happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

And when President Trump says something good might be happening, well… history has shown he tends to be right far more often than his critics care to admit.

If this momentum holds, we may finally see the kind of breakthrough the world has been waiting for—one driven by strength, clear-eyed negotiation, and real American leadership.
