Netanyahu, Rubio Discuss Possible U.S. Action as Iran Protests Intensify Nationwide

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed the possibility of U.S. military intervention in Iran during a phone call Saturday, according to reports, as Israel remains on “high alert” amid escalating unrest inside the Islamic Republic.

The conversation comes as nationwide anti-regime protests across Iran reached the two-week mark, signaling growing pressure on Tehran’s ruling authorities. According to Reuters, citing multiple Israeli sources, Israel is preparing for the possibility that the United States could take military action as the situation continues to unfold.

On Saturday, the Iranian regime reportedly activated an internet “kill switch,” drastically reducing online access across the country. A cybersecurity expert said the blackout appeared aimed at concealing alleged abuses by security forces as demonstrations surged—because when regimes panic, silencing the internet is usually step one.

Tensions escalated further Sunday when Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, warned that the U.S. military and Israel would be considered “legitimate targets” if America strikes Iran. His remarks came as lawmakers stormed the parliamentary floor chanting “Death to America,” a reminder of exactly who we’re dealing with.

President Donald Trump made his position clear, voicing strong support for the Iranian protesters. Writing on Truth Social, Trump said, “Iran is looking at FREEDOM, perhaps like never before. The USA stands ready to help!!!” — a message that resonated with those watching the regime’s grip weaken.

Speaking at a news conference Friday, Trump emphasized that Iran is under mounting pressure as unrest spreads across the country. “Iran’s in big trouble,” he said, noting that protesters are taking control of cities once thought untouchable. He added that the administration is monitoring the situation closely.

The president also warned that if the regime turns to mass violence, the response would be swift and decisive. “We’ll be hitting them very hard where it hurts,” Trump said, clarifying that it would not involve boots on the ground but would deliver serious consequences.

As protests grow and authoritarian cracks widen, the message from U.S. leadership is clear: America stands with those seeking freedom, and strength—firm, strategic, and unapologetic—remains the best path to peace.
