U.S. and Iranian officials still on talks

U.S. and Iranian officials remained locked in negotiations in Switzerland on Sunday, working through key issues involving Iran’s nuclear program and regional security, a U.S. diplomat confirmed.

The diplomat told Fox News Chief Foreign Correspondent Trey Yingst that the Iranian delegation was still in Switzerland and that talks were actively continuing. A significant focus was placed on clarifying conflicting messages over the Strait of Hormuz to guarantee the critical waterway remains open.“ Iranians remained in Switzerland.

The diplomat also confirmed that “robust discussions on all elements of the nuclear deal were ongoing.”

Vice President JD Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner have been holding meetings with Iranian officials all Sunday as part of the 60-day negotiation framework established under the Memorandum of Understanding signed last week. Despite heated social media exchanges and public rhetoric, an official with knowledge of the talks told the Associated Press that the Iranian delegation remains engaged and has not signaled any intention to walk away from the negotiations. The official spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the discussions.

However, the persistent on-again, off-again conflict in Lebanon between Israel and Iranian-backed Hezbollah continues to pose a serious risk of derailing Washington’s efforts to extract meaningful concessions from Tehran on its nuclear ambitions and ensure the Strait of Hormuz stays open.

The high-level involvement of top Trump administration officials reflects the seriousness with which the White House is treating these talks. President Trump has made clear that the 60-day window is not unlimited, and America continues to negotiate from a position of strength.
