U.S. Central Command forces completed another significant round of strikes against Iran on July 8, targeting approximately 90 Iranian military targets in order to further degrade the regime’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian mariners in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to CENTCOM’s official statement, the strikes hit air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along Iran’s coastline.
This latest operation follows a previous wave on July 7 that struck around 80 Iranian targets, including more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats. Those earlier strikes were launched after Iran violated the ceasefire by attacking three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM emphasized that U.S. forces “remain vigilant, lethal, and prepared to execute operations directed by the Commander in Chief.”
The back-to-back strikes demonstrate the Trump administration’s determination to impose serious costs on Iran for its aggression in one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints, while keeping pressure high even as diplomatic efforts continue on other fronts.
The situation in the region remains highly volatile.
