Misspelled “Learning,” Millions Missing: Emmer Presses Walz Over Minnesota Daycare Scandal

When a “learning” center can’t spell learning, it usually raises eyebrows. When that same center reportedly receives millions in taxpayer dollars, it raises alarms—and rightly so. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer is now demanding answers from Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz after a viral video exposed a so-called daycare with misspelled signage, no visible children, and a hefty flow of state funds.

The controversy centers on the Quality “Learing” Center in Minneapolis—yes, Learing, spelled exactly that way on the sign. A YouTuber’s visit to the location showed no activity, no kids, and no indication of a functioning daycare, despite reports that the center has received up to $4 million in state funding.

The video went viral amid a growing scandal surrounding the Walz administration, which has already been rocked by allegations that at least $1 billion was lost to social services fraud, much of it tied to the Somali community in the Twin Cities. According to reports, some of that money may have even ended up connected to the Somali terror group Al-Shabab. But sure—nothing to see here.

Emmer, the third-ranking Republican leader in the House and a Minnesota native, didn’t hold back.
“4 million dollars of hard-earned tax dollars going to an education center that can’t even spell learning correctly. Care to explain this one, Tim Walz?” he wrote on X. A fair question—especially when families are struggling and taxpayers are expected to foot the bill.

The Quality Learning Center has also racked up 95 violations from Minnesota’s human services agency between 2019 and 2023, according to a St. Paul ABC affiliate. Those violations reportedly range from failing to keep hazardous items away from children to having no records for more than a dozen listed kids. Despite all that, documentation reviewed by Fox News Digital shows the center’s current license doesn’t expire until the end of 2026. Apparently, accountability is optional.

This week, YouTuber Nick Shirley approached the Nicollet Avenue building labeled the Quality “Learing” Center and noted the misspelling on the sign. Almost immediately, a woman appeared and began yelling, “Don’t open up. It’s ICE,” repeatedly warning anyone inside not to answer the door. Because nothing says “legitimate daycare” quite like panicking about immigration agents when someone asks basic questions.

Shirley identified himself as an online commentator, while another man displayed a document appearing to show $1.9 million disbursed to the center in fiscal year 2025, bringing the total he recorded to $4 million. The woman told Shirley to leave and said he wasn’t welcome, though it remains unclear whether she had any official connection to the center.

The confrontation ended with a simple but powerful question: was anyone really okay with millions of dollars potentially going illegally or fraudulently to a business that can’t even spell its own name correctly?

What this episode highlights is exactly why Americans demanded stronger oversight, tougher enforcement, and real accountability—priorities that define the Trump movement. Asking questions, following the money, and standing up for taxpayers isn’t harassment; it’s responsible leadership. And as more light is shined on cases like this, it’s clear that transparency and common sense still have a fighting chance.
